How to not let negative people affect you

Never let other people’s opinions outweigh what you believe to be right for you.

We have all experienced negative energy from others or being negative  to other people. Spending time with a person that exudes negative energy can be draining and before you know it you can end up taking on all the negativity.

We tend to run on patterns because most of the things that we do unless we are consciously aware of them are automatic. When you constantly interact with people that are in a negative energy loop you might be drawn into the cycle. That is why you have to be careful so that it doesn’t become your general habitual way of being.

Toxic vs Negative People

It is important to note that not everyone who is in a negative mood is toxic. Toxicity has a certain level of awareness and toxic people will more often than not stir up situations on purpose. Negativity on the other hand is cyclical where you have your highs of positive energy and other times you’ll have lows where you experience negative energy.

An entire sea of water can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship. Similarly, the negativity of the world can’t put you down unless you allow  it to get inside.

Tips 

Stop Caring about what other people think, say or do – It is part of human nature to want to be long and be accepted. But if you allow yourself to care too much about what other people think, it becomes the catalyst that slows you down. Learn to let go of the need to please other people at your detriment.

Take ownership for your own feelings and thoughts – What people do and say most of the time is a reflection of who they are. Learn to note take things personally because if you do you will start to think that the negativity being projected on you is as a result of who you are.

You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind

Set healthy boundaries – We are all “flawed’’ and even the people that  care about you will be negative at times by  discouraging your dreams, shaming your desires or scaring you from taking deep leaps in life.

You just have to remember that no matter the situation, never abandon yourself, especially when you are brushed against someone you deeply care about.  

Never let other people’s opinions outweigh what you believe to be right for you. Understand that you know you better than anyone  else and that is reason enough to trust your own judgement and the decisions that you make.

Know your triggers – When you know what triggers you, you become aware of the things to steer away from. The outside world triggers what is internal so if something negative triggers you, analyze your feelings and thoughts.

Look within by dissecting situations or people that are making you feel negative so that you can know why and distance yourself. You can start off by thinking of a situation when you were negative, how you were triggered, how you reacted and the effects of your reaction.
